Daryl Jay Treaster

Daryl Jay Treaster, 83, of Milroy, a man defined by his devotion to family and his skillful hands, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, surrounded by love in his daughter’s home. His final moments were peaceful; he was able to spend them watching the Belmont Stakes, seeing his favorite jockey win just before taking his last breath.

Born Oct. 19, 1942, to the late Jay E. and Jeanne Y. (Davidson) Treaster, Daryl graduated from Kishacoquillas High School, where he was an exceptional athlete. His time on the court and track was memorable, highlighting his talents in basketball and track and field, for which he received many medals.

Daryl went on to follow in his father’s footsteps, finding his passion for cabinetmaking. A master of his craft, he possessed an extraordinary ability to transform ideas into reality, with many saying he “could build anything.”

In his personal life, Daryl was a man who deeply cherished his relationships. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He loved them dearly as they created fond memories together, including the trips they shared together to the Penn State Basketball games and Penn National Horse races. He was an avid Penn State Football fan and valued the time spent with those he cared for. He treasured the weekly conversations with his sister, the weekly car rides with his late best friend, Don Baker, and the Shanksville trip he took with his family.

Along with his parents, Daryl was preceded in death by his brother, a war hero and a five-time Purple Heart recipient, Sgt. Craig D. Treaster. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Linda L. (Sheaffer) Treaster, their children; DJ Treaster of Milroy, Wendy (Treaster) Cook and her husband Mark of San Diego, Calif., Tim Treaster of Burnham, his grandchildren; Tyler and Travis Treaster (Bub), Lauren and Christopher Cook. He also shared a special bond with his only great- granddaughter; Audrina Taylor, whom he affectionately called “his model.” In addition, he is survived by his siblings Jaylene (Treaster) Miller and her husband Rich, and Cathy (Treaster) Keiser and her husband Jeff, along with four nephews, one niece, and Alicia (Hop) Bobb, Daryl’s witty and beloved sister-in-law.

He also held a special place in his heart for his San Diego VLP family and the many meaningful bonds they created. He will be remembered for his kind heart and witty sense of humor.

Daryl’s family and friends will miss him deeply and will always remember him. Heaven truly gained another angel.

At Daryl’s direct request, he will be cremated and there will be no services.
