Alfred ‘Al’ D. Emerson

Alfred “Al” D. Emerson, 90, of Burnham, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, at his home.

Born May 31, 1936, in Blue Creek, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Hobart A. and Doris L. (Doggett) Emerson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Joan Bivins, Nancy Crutcher.

Al is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Judith A. (Walter) Emerson, whom he married June 17, 1962; daughters, Anita L. Williams and husband, James O., of Drums, Pa., Glenda A. Harling and husband, Donald K., of Enola; grandchildren, Laura E. Forker and husband, Sean, Julia C. McGee and husband, Ryan, Scott A. Harling; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Gabriel, Rylan, Caleb, Colin, Elaina, and Brendan; sisters, Linda Riggs, of Chapel Hill, Tenn., Evelyn ‘Gale’ Ward, of Brentwood, Tenn.

Al proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, building a distinguished career as a transportation supervisor and tech sergeant. He served during both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam, retiring honorably in January 1974. His dedication, discipline, and commitment to service were hallmarks of his life.

Away from his military career, Al found joy in working on his antique cars and collecting car models, hobbies that reflected his patience, craftsmanship, and appreciation for detail.

A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Heller- Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.

Interment will take place at Birch Hill Cemetery, where military honors will be provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Al’s memory may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice.
