William Robert Sellers Jr.

William Robert Sellers Jr., 79 passed awy on April 27, 2026 in Okinawa where he lived with his wife, Yuriko. He was born in Lewistown on Feb. 13, 1947 to the late William R. Sellers and Alice M. (Yetter) Sellers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Wanda B. Greenaway, Helen L. Bailor, Howard F. Hill and Alice M. Bair.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Yuriko (Hirakawa) Sellers whom he married on March 30, 1976; his children Jack J. Sellers and wife, Carrie, Naomi Suttle and husband, Adam and Brian Sellers; grandchildren, Samuel Sellers, Patrick Ward, Corbin Sellers, Jin Sellers and Lucas Suttle, all of Newport News, Va.; brothers James E. Sellers and Milton L. Sellers both of Lewistown.

Bill gradutated from Lewistown High School Class of 1966 (Vo Tech).

In his youth, he was very active in Boy Scouts, Lewistown Troop 9.

A US Army veteran, he proudly served from 1966 to 1986 with 19 months of service in Vietnam and 12 months in Thailand at the height of that war. He served in Okinawa and Korea along with tours at Fort Gordon and Fort Bragg. His last stateside tour was Fort Eustis and final overseas tours was in Germany following which he returned to Fort Eustis to retire.

A life long martial artist, he excelled in several disciplines including Taekwondo and Hapkido.

After his retirement, he worked for a fiber optics installation corporation in Virginia until he and his wife returned to Okinawa.

Internment took place in Uruma City, Okinawa on Thursday, April 30, 2026. There will be no service here.
