Mark N. Phillips

Mark N. Phillips, 88, of McAlisterville, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at his residence.

Born on June 7, 1937 in Fayette Twp., Juniata County, he is a son of the late Lester F. and Ruth V. (Varner) Phillips.

He is survived by his children, Melody A. Phillips, of Thompsontown, Byron K. Phillips, of McAlisterville, Marilyn D. Wilt and her husband, Brian, of Beaver Springs, and Robert D. Phillips and his wife, Judy, of Cocolamus; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Edna Wisehaupt, of Mifflintown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Glen Edward Phillips in 1962; one sister, Dora Bowersox; and one brother, Richard âDickã Phillips.

Mark was a 1955 graduate of Fayette High School; a 1962 graduate of Washington Missionary College in Takoma Park, Maryland where he obtained his Bachelors of Science in Education; and did graduate work at Lock Haven University and Penn State University.

Mr. Phillips taught in the Mifflin County School District for 10 years; next, he was the owner and operator of Gobbler's Knob Fruit Farm and also provided private counseling; and finally was employed and retired from Empire Kosher, Inc., Mifflintown.

He was a member and attended the Lewistown Seventh Day Adventist Church, and, in earlier life, was a member and attended the Mifflintown Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2026 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with Pastor Randall Sargent officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's United Methodist Church Cemetery, McAlisterville. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
