Jonathan ‘Scott’ Hasson

Jonathan “Scott” Hasson, 56, of Burnham, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born on Dec. 13, 1969, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Sharon (Weyant) O’Reilly and John C. Hasson, who survives him alongside his wife, Cheryl.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, John P. and Katherine Hasson, James Weyant R. and wife, Jane; an infant daughter, Elizabeth G. Hasson; a step-mother, Viginia Hasson; stepson, Matt J. Griffith; and a step-brother, Matthew Pierce; and his beloved canine, Storm, whose memory he held dear.

He is survived by his son, Atom Scott Hasson and companion, Kendra Wertz, of Lewistown; step-sister, Christine Prough and husband, Steve, of Strodes Mills.

Scott was a 1989 graduate of Lewistown Area High School.

He served his country as a United States Navy veteran, dedicating four years to upholding its principles and protecting its freedoms. Following his military service, Scott’s innate desire to protect and serve his community was found in his distinguished career as a firefighter. With a PA certified FF2 LT and Captain designation, he was a courageous and respected leader. His dedication shone across numerous county fire departments, including Henderson, Highland Park and Chief Logan Fire Department.

He was an incredibly talented musician, known for his dynamic performances as a member of the band Mindspell. His extreme passion for the legendary rock band KISS was not merely a hobby but an integral part of his identity, fueling his creative spirit and bringing him immense joy. Scott was a loyal fan of the Los Angeles Rams.

A graveside service, honoring Scott’s life and military service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Lind Memorial Cemetery, with Rev. Karen McCachren officiating.

Further details regarding a celebration of Scott’s life will be announced at a later date, allowing all who knew him to gather and share their cherished memories.
