John T. Groce
John T. Groce, 79, of Lewistown, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026, at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Jan. 31, 1947, in Mapleton, Huntingdon, he was the son of the late John B. and Alice (Wilson) Groce.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Harold Groce, Jerry Boonie, Mary Lauver and Shirley Everly; sister-in-law, Bernice Groce; brothers-in-law, Ray Campbell, Harry Walter.
He is survived by his children, Toby Groce and companion, Kim Brumgart, of Centre Hall, Robin Gill and fiancé, John Hammond, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Tyler Benner, Shane Groce, Jonathan Groce, Tori Lindstrom and husband, Mark, Alex Gill, Kody Fultz; great-grandchildren, Aron Benner, Kehlani Benner, Hayden Lindstrom, Landen Lindstrom; siblings, William Groce, of Perry County, Sara Snook and husband, Smoke, of McClure, Anna Campbell, of Lewistown, Deb Walter, of Lewistown; brother-in-law, Gary Everly.
He attended Lewistown High School.
A proud United States Army veteran, John spent more than two years stationed in Germany, serving his country with honor. Throughout his life, he worked with dedication at Sitkins Scrap Metal and American Hickory in Belltown.
John’s greatest joy was his family. He cherished time spent hunting and fishing with his grandchildren at Howard Lake, especially those days spent catching crappies.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Mount Rock Cemetery, with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating and special services provided by Juniata County Veterans Council.
Arrangements are under the care of Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
