Susan R. Johnson

Born Feb. 18, 1935, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Harry M. and Sarah E. (Haas) Riddle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Louis A. Bortell; her second husband, E. Robert Johnson; and a step-son, Robert Johnson.

She is survived by her loving children, Jeffrey Bortell and his wife, Beth, of Henrico, Va., and Pamela Berstler of Lewistown; her step-children, Thomas Johnson and his wife, Doris, of Oceanside, Calif., and James Johnson and his wife, Phyllis, of Lewistown; as well as her grandchildren, Samantha Bortell, Kelley Foster and her husband, Justin, and Jeffrey and Daniel Johnson. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Susan was a devoted member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. She found great joy in playing bridge, cherished the companionship of her beloved cats, and was an active participant in the local Charity League, where she gave generously of her time.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 21 S. Main St., Lewistown, with Father John Harwood officiating. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Private interment will take place at Mt. Rock Cemetery.
