Melvin E. ‘Butch’ Brubaker Jr.

Melvin E. “Butch” Brubaker Jr., 76, of Thompsontown, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026 at his residence.

Born on Sept. 29, 1949 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is the son of the late Melvin E. Sr. and Mabeline (Chambers) Brubaker.

On June 30, 1973, he married his surviving wife, Debra L. (Arnold) Brubaker with whom he was blessed to share over 52 years of marriage before his passing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Bonnie G. Strawser and her husband, Kevin, and Brenda A. Brubaker and her husband, Bradley, all of Richfield; five grandchildren, Adam Strawser and his wife, Sarah, Lydia Styles and her husband, Dan, Seth Strawser and his fiance, Abbi, Torrey Brubaker and Tucker Brubaker; five great grandchildren, Elijah Styles, Naomi Styles, Joanna Styles, River Strawser, and Oakley Strawser; siblings, Donald Brubaker and his wife Penny of Oriental, Gary Brubaker and his wife, Peg, of McAlisterville, Barry Brubaker and his wife, Dorothy, of Richfield, Nancy Henry and her husband, Jeff, of Lewistown, and Robert Brubaker, of McAlisterville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant sister, Barbara Ann Brubaker.

Mr. Brubaker honorably served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

In earlier life, he was employed by Conrail in Enola and later was employed and retired with over 25 years of service at the New Cumberland Army Depot.

Butch enjoyed butchering, hunting, fishing, softball, and cruising; however, his greatest joy came from time shared with his family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with his brother, Barry Brubaker officiating. Interment will follow at the Maze Cemetery where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
