Earl C. Pebley

Earl C. Pebley, VMD, 95 of Belleville, died Sunday, April 12, 2026, at his home.

Born March 23, 1931, in Johnstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Clyde E. and Dorothy (Wagner) Pebley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen K. Riden, his sister, Marion Hollern and his son-in-law, Michael Slygh.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Linda L. (Huntington) Pebley; children: Sara Slygh, of Emmaus, Stephen Pebley and wife, Tina, of Harrisburg, Linda Kay Chambers and husband, Charles, of Lewistown and Pamela Fultz and husband, Lance of, State College; son-in-law: Jeffrey Riden and wife, Sonya; grandchildren: Justin Riden, Nathan Slygh, Jessica Riden, Melinda Barnett, Matthew Fultz, Andrew Chambers, Emma Kaveney, Katie Pebley and Jon Chambers; great-grandchildren: Silas Riden, Sydney Riden, Liam Barnett, Paul Kaveney, and Nell Kaveney; three bonus grand-children and eight bonus great-grandchildren.

Earl graduated from Ferndale High School, Johnstown and did undergraduate study at the University of Pittsburgh. He graduated from the Veterinary School of the University of Pennsylvania with a VMD in 1955.

He served in Kansas and Japan for the U.S. Air Force Veterinary Corp. for five years before moving to Belleville in 1962, to practice with William Kline VMD. After retiring from the veterinary practice, he became an authorized lay worship leader through the ELCA and served the Upper Susquehanna Synod for 20 years.

He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Allensville.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 6880 State Route 655, Reedsville. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Allensville on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Mike Sigler officiating. Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Belleville.
