Peggy Ann Goss

Born Sept. 24, 1935, in Yeagertown, she was the daughter of the late Alfred I. and Helen G. (McKinley) Purcell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Eugene N. Purcell and Gerald E. Purcell, and her son-in-law, Richard A. Fleck.

Peggy is lovingly remembered by her devoted daughter, Patricia A. Fleck, of Lewistown, and her sister, Linda S. (Purcell) Price, also of Lewistown.

A proud graduate of Derry High School, Class of 1953. Earlier in life, Peggy was employed at Dank’s Department Store in Lewistown before dedicating 28 years of faithful service to the Department of Public Welfare, from which she retired in 1998.

Peggy was a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she faithfully participated in her Sunday school class and cherished the fellowship of her church family. Gifted with the artistic talent she inherited from her father, she found joy and expression through drawing and painting, creating beautiful works in oils and acrylics that reflected her thoughtful spirit.

A deep love for local history shaped much of Peggy’s life. For 25 years, she was a dedicated member of the Mifflin County Historical Society, serving 22 of those years on its board and volunteering countless hours in the research library. Her passion for preserving the stories of the community ensured that the legacy of Mifflin County would be remembered for generations to come

A memorial service in loving remembrance of Peggy will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with Pastor Rick Bender officiating. A visitation will be held from noon to the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Peggy’s memory may be made to the Mifflin County Historical Society, 1 W. Market St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
