Harry Eugene Kennedy
Harry Eugene Kennedy, 75, of Bellefonte, Pa., passed away on Jan. 23, 2026. Harry was born on Jan. 22, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas, to John Wendell Kennedy and Ann Eileen Bell (Davis). Harry is survived by his daughter Karen Eppley and son-in-law, Brian Eppley, granddaughters Maya and Nora Eppley, grandson Weston Eppley, daughter Alison Way and son-in-law Sam Way, and son John Kennedy. He served in the Army National Guard when he was a young man, and was a pressman by trade working for many years at Printing Services at Penn State. He was an admirer of nice paper and a quality print job.
He will be remembered for his offbeat sense of humor and love for quirky sayings. He loved The Beatles and his favorite song was “Blackbird.” He loved many Border Collies over the course of his adult life, but maybe none so much as Frodo. He was a true animal lover, but not only of dogs. He also raised and showed Rolling Pigeons for many years, and he would have loved to tell you about how pigeon shows work. He gave a home to a parakeet that was found outside in the winter and they enjoyed each other’s company for a number of years after. The little bird loved to fly around indoors and he trained the bird to fly to him. His first encounter with horseback riding was on a quarter horse named Sonny, whom he learned to ride potentially as a way to impress his then girlfriend, Katie McClure (Kennedy) to whom he would later be married for many years. They bought an Off-the-Track Thoroughbred, Flashcard, before they had children, and there were many (mis)adventures at the boarding facility in Northern Virginia. His love of horses was passed to all three of his children and now his three grandchildren. His lifelong loyalty to the Green Bay Packers cannot be overstated. The Packers never lost a football game. They just ran out of time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
