Lawrence A. "Larry" Stine, 85, of Mifflin, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, at his residence.
Born on July 9, 1940, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is a son of the late Milford and Mae (Shea) Stine.
On June 18, 1971, he married his surviving wife, Donna (Johns) Stine, with whom he was blessed to share more than 54 years of marriage before his passing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Barry Stine and his wife Stacey of Hollywood, Fla., Melissa Copenhaver and her husband Lewis of McClure, and Eric Stine of Lewistown; grandchildren, Colton Copenhaver and his wife Mackenzie of Beavertown and Brandon Copenhaver of Yeagertown; and he was the Great Pappy of his great-grandson, Ashton Copenhaver; siblings, Nancy Miller and husband John, Lynn Stine, Annette Fortune, and Shirley Sattler, all of Lewistown; and many generations of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Linda, Gary, Gerald, Darlene, and Terry Stine.
Larry was a 1958 graduate of Lewistown Area High School and honorably served our country in the United States Army from 1961 through 1964.
Earlier in life, he was employed at the Viscose in Lewistown, US Railroad in Enola, and later retired as a lieutenant prison guard at the Juniata County Jail.
He was a member of the Juniata County Sportsmen's Association and in earlier life, had attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Mifflin.
Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, watching NASCAR and Penn State football and wrestling; however, he loved and cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren as they grew up and his great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, at Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown with Pastor Mindy Petrovcic officiating. Interment will follow at Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veteran's Council.
A viewing will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral services at 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
