N. Kay Shirk, 85, of Reedsville, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025, at Greenwood Village in Lewistown.
She was born on March 19, 1940, in Lewistown, to the late Doris Rook (Deamer) Crawford. On Nov. 3, 1957, she married Rodney Shirk, who preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 2003.
Surviving are children, Lindy Cromer of Georgia and David Shirk and wife Cindy of Reedsville; grandchildren, DJ Shirk and companion Laura Kyper of Lewistown and her son Rylan; Jason Shirk and wife Mary of Toletto and daughter, Brigid; grandson, Matthew and wife Natalie and their two boys, Christopher and Gabe; siblings, Sally Riden and husband Charlie of Reedsville, Debbie Burris and husband Rick of Delaware, sister-in-law, Cheryl Rook of Reedsville; and a step-sister, Debbie Boyer and a stepbrother, John Crawford.
In addition to her husband and mother, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Steven Cromer; a sister, Sue Packard; and a brother, Don Rook.
She obtained her GED and attended Empire Beauty School in Lewistown. She was a hairdresser at K. Shirk and Joanne Kauffman Beauty Shop in Burnham. Following selling the business, she went to work for Danks, and lastly working at Big Lots.
She was a member of the Church Hill United Methodist Church in Reedsville. She enjoyed knitting and quilting.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Church Hill United Methodist Church, 199 Woodland Circle, Reedsville. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Catherine Dawes officiating.
A luncheon will be held at the church following the service. Burial will be held at the Church Hill Cemetery.
