James E. Porch Sr.

James E. Porch Sr., 74, of Mifflintown, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025 at his home.

Born Feb. 11, 1951, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Clair W. Porch and Violet V. (Shultz) Porch.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Porch.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Virginia (Wagner) Porch; he was a proud father of his children, Rachelle D. Sweitzer, of Lewistown, James E. Porch Jr. and wife, Kristy, of Longfellow, and Jennifer L. Kenepp, of Lewistown; stepchildren, Tracy E. Affeldt and husband, Chris, of Virginia, and W. Brian Stuter and wife, Marie, of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Zachary Sweitzer, William Sweitzer Jr., Mason Sweitzer, Christopher Porch, Curtis Snook, Morgan Snook, Jessica Goss, Mary Davenport, James Kenepp, Nathan Affeldt, Rachel Dyl, Emily Bowden, Alexis Reimer and Alexander Stuter as well as 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Joseph Porch and wife, Robin, of McVeytown, Gloria Kline and husband, Garry, of Lewistown, Jack Porch and wife, Sandy, of Granville and Francis Collins and husband, Dan, of Cairo, Ga.; beloved uncle, James A. Porch and wife, Doris, of Bradford.

James was a 1970 graduate of Lewistown High School.

He was a proud member of the United States Army, deeply grateful for the dedication and sacrifice of all who have served and continue to serve.

For 37 years, James worked as a dedicated truck driver, serving Class 1 Transport, Kerstetter’s Trucking, and, most recently, Coffee Run Trucking.

He was an avid Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles fan, and his passion for both teams was matched only by his love for the great outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and collecting eagle memorabilia brought him endless enjoyment. In his younger years, he found joy on the softball field, where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime.

A memorial service honoring James’s life will be held at Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, 61 Pine Glen Rd., Lewistown, on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, at 6 p.m.
