Donald G. Baker, Jr., 82, of Reedsville, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at home.
He was born on July 30, 1942, in Lewistown, to the late Mary (Condron) Simonetti. He was raised by his grandparents, the late Ruth and Abner Condron. On Dec. 29, 1997, he married the love of his life, Mary (Swartz) Baker, who survives at their home.
Along with his wife he is survived by his children, Martina Martz and husband, Steven, of Reedsville, Dawn Rodenizer and husband, Ira, of Lewistown, and Brian Baker and wife, Kellie, of Burnham; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; through marriage, he is survived by two nieces and onr nephew; three great-nieces and two great-nephews; and siblings, Dallas Manley of Ariz., Gary Simonetti of Harrisburg, and Patsy Davis and husband, George, of Mechanicsburg.
In addition to his mother and grandparents, he was preceded in death by siblings, John Roberts and Bernice Simonetti.
Donald graduated from Kishacoquillas High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Penn State University, where he was a painter for many years.
He was a lifetime member of the Brooklyn Fire Company, Yeagertown Fire Company and the Eagles.
He enjoyed spending time with his good friends, Tipp and Doug Kerstetter. He also enjoyed taking all of his great-grandchildren to Dairy Queen; watching his grandchildren and having family cookouts; and attending the horse shows.
A Celebration of Life service is being planned for a later date.
