Don R. Rook, 91, of Reedsville, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Celebration Villa of Nittany Valley, State College.
He was born on June 28, 1934, in Yeagertown, to the late Doris (Deamer) Crawford. On Feb. 25, 1956, he married Shirley J. (Aumiller) Rook, who survives. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven D. Rook, and step-father: John Crawford.
Along with his wife, he is survived by children: Shane A. Rook and wife, Lynne, of New Lancaster Valley, Sherry S. Riden and husband, W. Douglas, of Reedsville; grandchildren: Heather Laub, Eric S. Rook, Hillary D. Riden, Brock J. Riden; step-grandchildren: Josh, Elise, and Kim Detcher; six great-grandchildren: Jocelyn Peterson, Kara and Evan Rook, Isla, Myles, and Riley Riden; a step great-grandchild: Adrien Kline; and a great-great granddaughter: Julianna Peterson; siblings: Sally Riden and husband, Charlie, of Reedsville; N. Kay Shirk of Reedsville; and Debbie Burris and husband, Rick, of Dela.
He graduated from Yeagertown High School, and then from Penn State University in 1968, with a degree in teaching. He taught carpentry at the Mifflin-Juniata Area Vo-Tech School for a number of years until his retirement.
He was a member at the Blue Rock Sportsman's Club, Elks Club in Lewistown, and a member of the Church Hill United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed building furniture. He loved his dogs.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Milroy.
