Harold L. Earnest

Harold L. Earnest, 65, of Lewistown, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2025, at his home.

Born Jan. 8, 1960, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late John Earnest Sr. and Edna (Smith) Earnest.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth R. Earnest; and sisters-in-law, Tina Earnest, and Gail L. Earnest.

He is survived by his wife, LuAnn (Shawver) Earnest; son, Matthew Earnest and companion, Dakota Dobson, of Lewistown; grandson, Tyler Earnest; siblings, John Earnest Jr., Judy Melius and husband, William Sr., Anita Burdge and husband, Ronald, Calvin Earnest and wife, Sheila.

Harold was a 1978 graduate of Lewistown High School.

He was a life member of Junction Fire House, and Chief Logan Fire House.

Harold served his country with distinction in the Army National Guard, deploying to Kosovo.

Following his time in the service and his career at Overhead Door, where he later retired, Harold found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He loved being outdoors going hunting and fishing, and he loved to spend time with family.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to 365 Hospice for the compassionate care they provided during Harold’s final days.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2025, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m, Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating. All are welcome to attend; come as you are.

Interment will take place in Mt. Rock Cemetery with special services provided by Juniata County Veterans Council, honoring Harold’s military service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Harold’s memory to Junction Fire House or Rescue Our Furry Friends.
