Gary G. Stimely Sr.

Gary G. Stimely Sr., 78, of McVeytown, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at his home.

Born Sept. 23, 1946, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late John Jay and Thelma L. (Clark) Stimely Sr. His wife, Nedra L. (Buchta) Stimely, whom he married Sept. 23, 1967, survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Gary G. Stimely Jr. and wife, Andrea, of McClure; a daughter, Sherry K. McKay and husband, Mark, of Lewistown; two brothers, John Jay Stimely Jr. and wife, Connie, of Mt. Union, Thomas L. Stimely and wife, Sheree, of McVeytown; seven grandchildren, Phillip Stimely and wife, Alyssa, Kierna Miller and husband, Damon, Blaise Roush, Mackenzie Roush, Tiahna Pollock and husband, Joshua, Colton Roush, Takira Stimely; five great grandchildren, Liam, Ethan, Alyvia, Oliver, and Jaxtyn.

He was a 1966 graduate of the Williamsport Area Community College diesel mechanic program.

A Sergeant First Class in the Army National Guard, he served from 1966 to 1996 at the Lewistown armory, first as a diesel mechanic and later as office personnel.

Gary was president of the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League for 41 years, and also volunteered driving veterans to doctor appointments and as a driver and dispatcher for the McVeytown Ambulance Association.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he most loved spending time with his growing family.

Per Gary's request there will be no service.
