Miriam A. Niemond, 101, of Richfield, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Geisinger- Lewistown Hospital.
Born on Sept. 30, 1923, in Evendale, Juniata County, she is the daughter of the late Stephen and Verda (Lauver) Niemond.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Robert Goodling, Dale Goodling, Ruth Shrawder, Susanne Christiansen, George Niemond, Marlene Zook, and Jane Niemond; and many generations of great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn C. Goodling; one brother, Marlin W. "Sparky" Niemond; and one nephew, Stephen W. Niemond.
Ms. Niemond was a proud school teacher who began her career teaching at the Crossroads School and after its closing, taught at Perry West Perry Elementary School in Mount Pleasant Mills.
Miriam was a member and attended Brown's Church in McAlisterville and loved to cook, braid rugs, quilt, go camping, and traveling.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with Pastor William McNeal officiating. Interment will follow at Niemonds Cemetery, Richfield.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ms. Niemond's memory can be made to Brown's Church, 33762 Route 35 North, Cocolamus, PA 17014.
