Mary Kerstetter Baker

Mary Kerstetter Baker, 80, passed away at her Strasburg Township home on Saturday, April 5, 2025. She shared 56 years of marriage with her husband Galen E. Baker.

Born in Greenwood Township, Juniata County, Mary was the daughter of the late Howard E., Sr. and Minerva (Knouse) Kerstetter. She graduated from Greenwood Joint High School in Millerstown, earned a bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University and earned a master's in business education from Indiana University, Bloomington, Ind.

Mary was a business education teacher for five years before staying home as a homemaker for her family. She was fulfilled as a loving mother and grandmother.

She was a faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Strasburg where she had perfect attendance for over 30 years. Mary was active in the Wednesday morning bible study with her lady friends for 40 years. She also enjoyed flower gardening.

In addition to husband Galen, Mary is survived by their sons, Timothy E. Baker of Strasburg, and Thomas E. Baker, husband of Lisa B. (May) and their children Aubrey and Jackson Baker all of Wernersville, and her siblings, Clair Kerstetter, Sr., Harold Kerstetter, and Mae Troup.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, John, Howard, Jr., David and Oswin Kerstetter, and Florence Haubert.

The funeral will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Wesley U.M. Church, 40 West Main Street, Strasburg, PA 17579, with The Rev. Robert Garvey officiating. A viewing will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Windsor Cemetery in Windsor at 2 p.m.
