Sylvia Jean Leach

Sylvia Jean Leach, 89, of Mifflintown, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at her home.

Born on July 8, 1935 in Licking Creek, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late John and Edna (Horning) Page. On Oct. 23, 1953 she married her husband, Claude R. Leach, Sr. who preceded her in death on May 13, 1989.

She is survived by her children, Claude R. Leach, Jr. and wife, Belva of Licking Creek, Dennis J. Leach and wife, Violet of Tuscarora, Steven D. Leach and wife, Jeannie of Mifflintown, Gregory L. Leach and companion, Collette of Mifflintown, Robin J. Lawson and husband, John of Reeds Gap, Tracy E. Kauffman and husband, Curt of Mifflintown and Kim E. Stimely and husband, Tom of Burnham. She is also survived by siblings Ronald Page and wife, Lyn of Mifflintown, James Page and wife, Margoret of Angola, N.Y., Robert "Bob" Page of Port Royal, Betty Brown, Cheryl Myers, Roger Page, Diane Hooper all of Jacksonville, Fla., Janet Miller and husband, Fritz of Mount Gilead, Ohio, sisters-in-law, Patricia Page of Angola, N.Y., ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Sylvia was preceded in death by brothers Irvin Page and his wife, Larue and Norman Page; a sister-in-law, Joyce Page; as well as brothers-in-law William Long and Paul Brown.

She worked at Mountain View Elementary School in the cafeteria. Sylvia was protestant by faith. She enjoyed crafting, gardening flowers, going for drives in the car, traveling, cooking and baking.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, Mifflintown with Pastor Gerald Miller officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Leach's memory may be made to Juniata Meals on Wheels, P. O. Box 25, Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to St. Stephen's Free Meal Ministry at 8489 Licking Creek Road, Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to any charity of your choice.
