Mark E. Reed, 62, of Mifflintown, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey.
Born on Oct. 6, 1962, in Lewistown, he is a son of the late Clarence L. "Tiny" and Beatrice L. "Bebe" Reed. On June 7, 1987, he married his surviving wife, Jodi (Groce) Reed with whom he was blessed to share of 37 years of marriage before his passing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Lilli Reed; one brother, Stephen Reed and his wife, Leigh Ann; one sister-in-law, Kelli Houtz and her husband, Jim; nieces and nephews, Carrie Packer and her husband Mike, Jared Reed and his wife Amber, Jacob Houtz and his wife Lexi, and Dr. Jennifer Houtz.; and his beloved canine companion, Laker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Keith Reed; his father and mother-in-law, Pete and Shirley Groce; and one niece in infancy, Jessica Houtz.
Mr. Reed was a 1980 graduate of Juniata High School, Mifflintown and was a proud self-employed contractor.
Mark was a member of St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Licking Creek and enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, flowers, bird watching, hunting, riding his electric bike and enjoying his aquarium, collecting coins, and loved the History Channel and mowing; however, his greatest joy came from time spent with his family and hanging out with his friends.
Funeral Services will be held at noon on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Samuel J. Leister officiating. Interment will follow at St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at noon on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Reed's memory can be made to the Mifflintown Hose Company No.1, 610 Washington Ave., Mifflintown, PA 17059.
