Linda Jane Matter

Linda Jane Matter, 78, of Omaha, Neb., passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Born on July 29, 1946, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Helen (Hoover) Wilson and late stepmother, Mildred (Ammon) Wilson. Her husband of 55 years, Gary, survives. They were married March 28, 1970 at the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, in McVeytown.

Also surviving are daughter, Jennifer (Jeff) Morris and son, Jason (Jill) Matter; three grandsons survive: Jackson and Cooper Morris and Macklin Matter. Her brother, Robert Wilson, preceded her in death and stepbrother, Charles (Carol) Smith survives.

Linda graduated from Rothrock High School, Class of 1964, and attended Shippensburg State College for two years before graduating from Thompson Institute in Harrisburg. She worked as an executive secretary at various positions until their daughter arrived in 1973 and son in 1978. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her greatest prides were her children and grandsons.

Over the years she resided in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida and Nebraska. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, knitting and completing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed playing board games and card games with her grandsons. She was a fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions. A cabin (Lions Den) at Raystown Lake in Huntingdon, provided many fond memories.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Burnham Walnut Street United Methodist Church in the summer. Details to follow.
