Gary L. Hannon

Gary L. Hannon, 84, of Milroy, passed away on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 21, 1940, in Lewistown, to the late George W. Hannon and Miriam (Bowersox) Hannon Richard. On Feb. 22, 1963, he married Nancy J. (Fultz) Hannon, who survives.

Along with his wife, he is survived by children: Rex Allan Hannon and Margherita, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Tina M. Houser, of Milroy; three grandchildren: Zachary R. Houser and wife, Laine, Cynthia Coggins and husband, Gerard, Tristan Nicole Crownover and Zachary; seven great-grandchildren; a brother: Earl A. Hannon and wife, Mary, of McClure; and sister-in-law: Katie Hannon of Lewistown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Clark, Reid and Jerry Hannon.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961 on board U.S.S. Independence in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He then was employed at Ford New Holland in Belleville for 33 years, retiring in 1997.

He was a charter member of the Eagles Club and a member of Wounded Warriors Organization. He was a member of Parkview Church of the Brethren in Lewistown.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed camping. He was a dedicated Scout Master for boy scouts in Alfarata and Milroy for a number of years. He loved his precious cat, Trouble.

A Celebration of Life Service is being planned for a later date with Pastor Teresa Fink officiating.
