Thelma Mae Johnston

Thelma Mae Johnston, 89, passed away Friday morning, Jan. 3, 2025, at Greenwood Village Nursing Home in Lewistown.

Born March 10, 1935, in Clearfield, Pa., she was a daughter of the late James and Myra (Maurer) Pyle. She was preceded in death in 2010 by her husband, Jack, who she shared 51 years with. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mona Lou Hunter, in 2001.

Thelma is survived by her daughter and son- in-law, Brenda and Rob Hagenberger of Lewistown. Also surviving are her brother and sister- in-law, Jim and Pat Pyle of Mentor, Oh. as well as several nieces and nephews.

Thelma was a loving wife and mother who whole-heartedly devoted her time and effort to her home and family. Her vast collection of craft books, cookbooks, and sewing supplies showed her love of creating things whether in the kitchen, at her sewing machine, or making some arts and crafts projects. She enjoyed gardening, nature, and most of all listening to her beloved Jack play the piano.

Interment will be in Watts Cemetery, Curwensville, Pa. with a private family service.

The family wishes to thank Greenwood nursing staff and Hospice 365 for their kind and compassionate care. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mifflin County Library or Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church, both in Lewistown, Pa.

King Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences can be sent at kingbarrfuneralhome.com.
