John E. ‘Johnny’ Bell

John E. “Johnny” Bell, of Gingerfield, in Mifflintown, passed into heaven on Monday, Dec. 30, 2024 at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

He was born in Mifflin, Juniata County to the late Robert W. Bell, Sr. and Frances E. (Pannebaker) Bell. He married his surviving wife, Sheron (Chapple) Bell on June 25, 1965, they were blessed to have 59 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Stacey L. Nace and John (Matt) Bell, both of Mifflintown, and John’s companion, Lisa Russell. He is also survived by a sister, Doris Ann Kerlin, two grandchildren, Zachary Bell and Abby L. (Nace) Sheaffer and husband, Danny as well as two great-grandchildren, Kael Sheaffer and Krew Sheaffer. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny Bell and Robert Bell Jr.

“JB” was a 1961 graduate of Juniata High School and proudly served with the U.S. Army in Germany. His career was with the United Parcel Service where he was distinguished with a 30 year safe driving award.

He always said he knew everyone. Johnny was a Methodist by faith. He proudly served on the Juniata County Veterans Council honoring those veterans that passed before him.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown with Pastor Mindy Petrovcic officiating, where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council. There will be a viewing held on Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, where the immediate family will not be present for viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Bell’s memory may be made to the Juniata County Veterans Council at P.O. Box 1, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
