Anthony John ‘AJ’ Long

Anthony John “AJ” Long, 51, of Mifflin, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family and caregivers.
Born Sept. 25, 1973, in Harrisburg, he was a son of Betsy Irene (Barton) Long of Mifflin and the late Darwin Banks Long.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one brother, Stephen Darwin Long and wife, Lori, of Mifflin, and one niece and two nephews and their families, Shelby Lyn Kilmer and husband, Nate, and their son, Kavik, Darwin Tyler Long and wife, Rachel, and Travis Banks Long and fiancÈ, Macie Baumgardner, who were all very close to him.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Evelyn (Simonton) Barton and Darwin and Maude (Robinson) Long and one sister-in-law, Cindy (Gray) Long.
Anthony loved ministering to people about Jesus and praising Him. He also had a heart of gold and loved the unlovable, always with a huge smile.
For a long time, he attended Cedar Grove BIC Church where he was a member of the Sunshine Sunday school class and recently he attended Heaven Bound Church.
He loved going to church, going on train rides, playing ball, and helping his brother, Steve, get the cows to the barn by telling them to “GO!” He also loved his family and caregivers very much and they were a very important part of his life.
There will be a viewing on Friday, Jan. 17 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Heaven Bound Church, 25 S. Ridge Road, Mifflintown followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. at the church with Pastor Casey Hostler and Pastor Judy Rowles officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
