Robert K. ‘Bob’ Stitt

Robert K. "Bob" Stitt, 79, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024.

Born on Jan. 13, 1945, in Lewistown, Bob was the son of the late Samuel R. and Anna Mae (Montgomery) Stitt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Samuel, George, and James Stitt, and his sister, Sharon Hoff.

Bob leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his children, David Stitt of Pearland, TX, Graig Stitt and wife, Lisa, of Saluda, SC, and Lori Young and husband, James II, of Lewistown; his grandchildren, David Stitt, Jr., Joshua Stitt, Stephanie Stitt, Ryan Meixel, Jonathan Young, Anthony Young, and Samantha Butler; and his great-grandchildren, Barrett Stitt, Jameson Stitt, Tanner Stitt, and Katie Glover. He is also survived by his siblings, Norma Atkinson and husband, Harold, of Conway, AR, Eleanor Stuck and husband, Donald, of Fredericksburg, VA, and Barbara Simonton and husband, Lester, of Carlisle.

Bob was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.

He retired in November 1994 as Executive Vice President of Meat Merchandising at Grand Union. Following his retirement, he embraced his entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating Stitt Turkey Farm

Known for his love of life's simple pleasures, He found his greatest joy in the love of his family, cherishing every moment spent with them. Bob enjoyed sitting on his porch, woodworking with a craftsman's touch, reading, and listening to music. His beloved dog, Abraham, was a constant companion. Bob also took joy in his "board meetings," a treasured tradition of nightly gatherings with friends, both past and present.

A funeral service to honor Bob's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will follow at Birch Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob's memory may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 20 Oak Street, Lewistown, PA 17044.
