Marvin Earl Gearhart

Marvin Earl Gearhart, 85, of Dillsburg, entered Heaven at 6:49 a.m., Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, at his home.

Born Dec. 31, 1938, in McVeytown, he was a son of the late Donald Gearhart and Jesse (Laughlin) Witzel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Darvin Gearhart.

Marvin is survived by: wife, Donna L. (Harpster) Gearhart; daughter, Dawn Marie Kushto and husband, Gary, of Crofton, Md.; grandchildren, Jordan, Julian, and Cole Kushto; siblings, Martha Richard, of Lakeland, Fla., Miriam Jury, of York, and David Witzel, of McAlisterville; and sisters-in-law, Deborah Murrell, of Lewistown, and Judy Goss and husband, Clifford, of Reedsville.

He was a graduate of Mount Gilead High School in Ohio.

Marvin was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was assigned to Det. 2, 1957th Communications Group as an antenna systems specialist from March 1963 to Feb. 1967 at Andrews Air Force Base, Md.

He was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Kingstown.

He retired as a Service Engineer from International Business Machines.

In his earlier years, Marvin enjoyed hunting. He was a skillful gardener and loved tending his lawn and gardens. Most of all, Marvin deeply loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown, followed by a graveside service at Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown, with Pastor Douglas Sherlock officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Juniata County Veterans Council, Mifflintown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marvin's memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 2403 Sidney Street, Suite 205, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.
