Orpha S. King
Orpha S. King, 86, formerly of Belleville, Denver, and New Holland, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at Fairmount Homes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd R. King in 2006.
Born in Morgantown, she was the daughter of the late Enos and Annie (Yoder) Stoltzfus.
She leaves behind a son, Floyd Robert King, Jr. married to Kelly VanWright, Selinsgrove and a daughter Judy married to Loren Bender, New Holland, four grandchildren: Laura (Ethan) Hummel, Amy (Captain Michael) Gould, Jonathan Bender, and Christy Bender (fiancÈ Tyler Vasbinder), two great grandsons, Ethan and Cole Hummel, a sister, Salinda Weber, New Holland, and a sister-in-law Marian Stoltzfus, Lititz.
She was preceded in death by five siblings: Nancy Byler, David Y. Stoltzfus, Ruth Bowman, Martha Bartel, and Titus Stoltzfus.
She graduated in 1959 from Reading Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. Her nursing career in the medical profession spanned almost 50 years, working in fields including staff nurse, director of nursing, director of a mental health base service unit and psychiatric nursing. She ended her career working in various facilities as a nursing home administrator.
She was a member of Forests Hills Mennonite Church. Orpha was deeply committed to service in the community and served or participated on various boards and committees for local organizations.
Orpha’s love of life and her fellow man and her quick-witted sense of humor will be deeply missed.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Rd., Leola. A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. She will be buried in Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Orpha’s memory may be made to Fairmount Homes Sharing Fund, 333 Wheat Ridge Dr., Ephrata, PA 17522.
