Ella Mae Blessing, 78, of McVeytown, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
Born on Oct. 25, 1946, in Lewistown, she was the cherished daughter of the late Kenneth and June (Bohr) Goss. Ella Mae was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John B. Blessing, who passed away on Aug. 5, 2020, and her sister, Mary Atkins.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her daughters, Jennifer Blessing of McVeytown, and Karen Sufczynski and her husband, Chris, of Simpsonville, SC. Ella Mae was a proud and loving grandmother to her four grandsons: Christopher "CJ," Nicholas, Nathaniel, and Derrick. She is also survived by her brothers, A. John Goss and his spouse, in Germany, and Michael Goss and his wife, Gloria, of McVeytown.
A faithful and dedicated member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lewistown, Ella Mae served as President of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA). She also extended her passion for service as a member of The Kiwanis Club of Lewistown.
For many years, Ella Mae shared her creative talents through her business, EMB Monogramming, crafting personalized items for local sports teams, businesses, and countless loved ones. An avid reader and skilled knitter, she poured her love into making hats and socks for her cherished grandchildren. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and the companionship of her beloved dogs. Above all, she found her greatest joy in her family, treasuring every moment spent with her grandchildren.
A celebration of Ella Mae's life will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main Street, Lewistown, with Rev. Allen Hulslander officiating. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the viewing at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Mt. Rock Cemetery.
In honor of Ella Mae's memory, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main Street, Lewistown, PA 17044.
