Gwendolyn ‘Gwen’ Jo Bickel

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Jo Bickel, 68, of Camp Hill, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at her home.
Born June 5, 1956, in York, she was the daughter of the late Grady E. and Shirley P. (Houser) Miller.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Miller.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Bickel Jr.; daughters: Kristin Maher and husband, Shaun, of Plymouth Meeting, Erin Eickstadt and companion, Aaron Harris, of Camp Hill; step-sons: Daniel Bickel III, of Lewistown, Jason Bickel, of Bellefonte, and Craig Bickel, of Lewistown; grandchildren: Katelynn Myers and companion, Andrew Kauffman, Daniel Carroll, and Matthew Sheaffer Jr.; great-grandson, Braxton Kauffman; siblings: Grady M. Miller and wife, Sharon, of Virginia, Matthew E. Miller and wife, Susan, of Mechanicsburg; nieces and nephews: Cieara Rankin and husband, Kyle, John Miller and wife, Kali, Rachel Miller, Ali Miller, and Morgan Miller.
Gwen was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lewistown.
She was a 1974 graduate of Lewistown High School, and she received her Bachelor of Science degree at West Virginia University.
In her earlier years, Gwen worked at William Penn Nursing Home in Lewistown, Ecumenical Retirement Community in Harrisburg, and The Bridges at Bent Creek in Mechanicsburg.
She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandson and grandpups. She enjoyed going shopping; Hobby Lobby and Boscovs were her favorite stores. She enjoyed cooking, baking, cross stitching, decorating, taking care of the seniors at nursing homes, being a Youth Advisor at First United Methodist Church, the beach, turtles, and collecting red trucks. Gwen was a Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, as well as Steelers and Penn State fan.
A receiving of friends will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with a memorial service at 11 a.m., with Rev. Karen McCachren officiating.
Interment will be held at Mount Rock Cemetery.
