Robert C. Byler, 88, of 237 Hartzler Drive, Belleville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024 at his home. He was born on Aug. 12, 1936 in Belleville, to the late Rudy M. and Lena H. (Byler) Byler. On June 15, 2002, he married Nancy L. (Snell) Byler, who survives at home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Anthony W. Byler in 2000, a son-in-law, John Lacombe, a brother-in-law Tom Paden, a brother and sister-in-law, John L. & Mary B. Byler.
Surviving are children: JoAnn Downing and husband, David, of Charleston, SC, and Tambra L. Lacombe of Belleville; five grandchildren: Michael, Haley, Alex, Zach and Zane; nine great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Kendell, James, Maddie, Mitch, Haddy, Luke, Ava, and Ryker; siblings: Freida Paden, Paul Byler and wife, Linda, all of Belleville.
Bob was part owner/operator of the Belleville Oil Company until 1982, when he and his brother sold out to KV Oil Company. He continued working for KV Oil until his retirement in 1998. Following retirement, he became a part-time school bus driver.
He was a member of the Watts Memorial United Methodist Church in Belleville, a member of the Belleville Lion's Club, and volunteered for the Big Valley Ambulance Club for over 20 years. He enjoyed making wooden crafts, going camping and going geo-caching.
A funeral service will be held at the Watt's Memorial Methodist Church, Walnut Street, Belleville, on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Doug Pierce officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Allensville Mennonite Cemetery.
