Nancy A. Byler, 97, of Belleville, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at Valley View Haven Nursing Home, Belleville.
She was born on Dec. 30, 1926 in Belleville, to the late Jacob R. and Myrtle (Weber) Yoder. On Oct. 25, 1947, she married Lester S. Byler, who preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1974.
Surviving are children: Thomas R. Byler and wife, Karen R., of Shelbyville, TN, Julia Ann Zehr and husband, John, of Shipshewana, IN, Robert S. Byler and wife, Barbara, of Belleville, and George L. Byler and wife, Thelma, of Allensville; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; brothers: Frank Yoder of Arizona and Irvin Yoder and wife, Shirley, of Albuquerque, NM.
She was primarily a homemaker, previously employed at Vogt's Sewing Factory and Lewistown Sportswear. She then went on to school to receive her LPN in 1976. She worked at Ohesson Manor and then did private duty nursing until she was 70 years old.
She was a member of the Maple Grove Mennonite Church in Belleville, a 4H leader, and in her earlier years, taught crafts for Big Valley Homemakers.
She enjoyed cooking, quilting and sewing.
Services will be held at the Valley View Chapel, 4702 East Main Street, Belleville on Monday, Sept. 30, 2024 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Phoebe Quaynor and Herb Zook officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at the Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville, following the service.
