Marilyn J. Strawser

Marilyn J. Strawser, 75, of Thompsontown, passed away at 12:40 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024 at her residence.

Born on Jan. 19, 1949 in Lewistown, she is a daughter of the late Norman A. and Eileen M. (Daughenbaugh) Shipe. On Dec. 28, 1968, she married her surviving husband, Richard L. "Dick" Strawser.

Surviving are her children, Richelle Zimmerman and husband, Lester III. She is also survived by a brother, James Shipe and wife, Sherry, nephews and nieces Tim Alexander and wife, Tanya, Megan Johnson and husband, Andrew, and Anthony Shipe and wife, Megan. Also surviving her is a great nephew, Landon Johnson and special cousins, Inez McClure and Dean Rissley, as well as cats JJ and Dusty.

Mrs. Strawser was a 1967 graduate of East Juniata High School and Empire Beauty School. She was self employed as a beautician from 1973 to 2016.

Her memberships included Thompsontown Methodist Church, the Juniata County Republican Committee and Juniata Junction Breakfast Club. Marilyn also served as Judge of Elections of Delaware Twp. and served on her high school class reunion committees. She enjoyed watching Megan and Anthony play sports from a young age through college and going shopping with Richelle. Marilyn was very sociable and outgoing, she was a youth fellowship leader, a Brownie Leader, and a band mom.

Funeral Services will be held at noon, Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at the Thompsontown Methodist Church, 7 West Main Street., Thompsontown with Rev. Donald Walters officiating. Interment will follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Thompsontown.

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at noon on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Strawser's memory to the Thompsontown Methodist Church, 7 West Main Street, Thompsontown, PA 17094 or to Rescue Our Furry Friends at P.O. Box 6, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown.
