Edward D. Fraker, 74, of Mifflintown, passed through the gates of Heaven on Sept. 26, 2024, at his home as his wife, Loretta (Quigley) Fraker, and family surrounded him with love.
Born Jan. 24, 1950, at home in Neelyton, he was the youngest son of Clarence and Alma Fraker. He devoted his life to his wife of 47 years, whom he married on June 4, 1977, and to his beloved children and grandchildren.
Incredibly blessed to have him as a father are one son, Justin Fraker and wife, Melissa, of Mifflintown, and one daughter, Rebecca Rhine and husband, Tom, of Mifflintown. Treasuring memories of their Pap are four grandchildren: Michael, Tyler, Maddie, and Lexi Rhine.
Also surviving is one brother, Rodney Fraker of Newville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wade Fraker.
Ed graduated from Boiling Springs High School in 1967 and attended Central Penn Business School before enlisting in the United States Army and faithfully serving his country in Vietnam. After returning home, he worked at the Carlisle Barracks, Arch Rock Paving, and Faylor-Middlecreek before making his career working for the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Center in Mechanicsburg. He retired in 2012 to spend his days enjoying time with his family.
Throughout his life, Ed served his family, his community, and his nation well. He was cubmaster of Pack 98 of Mifflin, assistant scoutmaster and scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 124 of Licking Creek, assistant scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 46 of Port Royal, a Little League coach in Mifflin, church camp counselor at Wesley Forest, and, most recently, an active member of the Lions Club of Mifflintown.
Ed was a believer in the saving grace of Jesus Christ and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Mifflin, where he had served as a trustee, Sunday School superintendent, and leader of Men's Group.
Ed enjoyed deer-hunting, reading western and Civil War books, playing pinochle with family, bird-watching and bird-feeding, and, in his younger years, playing softball in community and church leagues. He loved traveling on family vacations, attending Spikes games as a season-ticket holder, going to Gaither Family Fests in Tennessee, sprint-car racing and NASCAR, cheering on the Nittany Lions, and taking in major-league baseball games at stadiums across the northeast.
Ed was especially grateful and extremely proud of four titles in his life-- husband, father, grandfather, and United States Veteran-- and his happiest moments were times spent with his grandchildren-- enjoying their laughter, attending their games and recitals and activities, and, in his prize role, serving as their personal "Uber" driver.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 304 Juniata Street, Mifflin, PA, with Pastor Mindy Petrovcic officiating. Interment will follow in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown where the Juniata County Veterans Council will accord military burial honors.
A viewing will be held on Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown as well as on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at Trinity United Methodist Church in Mifflin.
