Carl Walter Parson

Carl Walter Parson, "Popeye," 84, of Honey Grove, entered into rest Sept. 14, 2024 in Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary (Henry) Parson.

Carl was born Oct. 29, 1939, in Blain, Perry County, a son of the late Russell C. and Evelyn (Burd) Parson. He graduated from Orbisonia Area High School in 1959. He served in the Army during the Vietnam war, honorably discharged in 1965.

Following his military service, he began his career as a sewing machine mechanic and served numerous sewing factories until his retirement. He then drove a van transporting school children and acquired many young friends over a 20-year period. He also enjoyed carpentry and could do plumbing and electrical work, along with continuing to work on sewing machines.

Carl was known for his ability in throwing horseshoes. He also enjoyed hunting and taking his 3-legged friend, "Rusty" and Mary on his side-by-side and mower.

Surviving are his wife, Mary, and a son, Joe A. Parson of Honey Grove and his faithful 3-legged companion, Rusty, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth H. Towsey and his twin, Catherine Wyant.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m. in the Agett-Lakjer Funeral Home, 16715 Path Valley Road, Spring Run, with Pastor Caleb Burd, officiating. Viewing Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Interment East Waterford Cemetery.
