Willis E. Breon, Sr., 98, of Yeagertown, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 28, 2024 at William Penn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 24, 1926 in Yeagertown, he was the son of the late Clair W. and Gertrude (McCord) Breon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy O'Donnell, Donald Breon, and Joyce Gilbert, and his daughter-in-law, Kimbra Breon.
Willis is survived by his loving wife, Kay E. (Goss) Breon, children, Willis Breon, Jr., of Lewistown, Dennis Breon and wife, Kathy, of Mifflintown, Terri Ward and husband, Robert, of Westminster, MD, Roger Breon, of Yeagertown, and Sue Ciccolini and husband, Darwin, Jr., of McVeytown, 14 grandchildren, 17 grandchildren, and siblings, Glen Breon and wife Vonnie, and Beverly Hummel and husband, Neil.
He honorably and faithfully served in the United States Navy during WWII, where he was aboard the U.S.S. Texas.
He was a member of Calvary Bible Church, and earlier in life, he owned and operated Breon's garage in Yeagertown for many years. Outside of his work, he enjoyed the thrill of racing cars and flying airplanes, and had a passion for woodworking, and crafting beautiful pieces of furniture. Willis was also an exceptional golfer, known as a "scratch" golfer, he took great joy in the game, often sharing rounds with close friends and family.
A service to celebrate Willis' life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at King Funeral Home and Crematory, 47 Carriage House Lane, Reedsville, with Pastor Ethan Druckenmiller officiating. There will be a viewing held at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service.
Burial will take place in Maitland Cemetery, with military honors provided by the United States Navy.
