Jean (Gutshall) Noerr

Jean (Gutshall) Noerr, of Lewistown, passed away on Aug. 13, 2024 at the age of 100.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Noerr Jr. in Dec. 1977. They were married Aug. 24, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Nevin F. and Estella M. (Smith) Gutshall.

Jean is survived by two sons, Edward George and wife, Jane, and Thomas Mark and wife, Marge; a daughter, Sally Jean Horton and husband, David of Leesport; six grandchildren, Christopher and wife, Terra, Brent, Tonya Anderson and husband, Nick, Daniel, Stephanie Rockwell and husband, Mark, David Horton and wife, Marissa; six great-grandchildren, Leeum, Brendon, Ava, Michael, Clara, and Grant; two step grandchildren, Doyle Kint and wife, Stacie, and Brian and wife, Robin; and five step-great grandchildren, Malin, Gavin, Darin, Holly, and Bridget.

Jean has one surviving sister, Elaine Beers, wife of Robert of Cornwall. She was predeceased by three sisters, eight half-sisters, and six half-brothers.

She was a graduate of Lewistown High School, class of 1941.

Jean was a life member of Grace United Methodist Church. She taught children's Sunday School for 20 years and was an active member and past treasurer of the Adult Sunday School class. She was a member of the choir and bell choir and United Methodist Women. She was involved in the 20th Century Club and the Act 2 Club.

Jean loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her flowers, baking, cooking (especially soups), knitting, reading, playing Scrabble and Words with Friends, and watching Penn State Sports and the Phillies.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan Street, Lewistown, PA 17044. The service will begin at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Stephanie Rupert officiating. The burial will follow at Mt. Rock Cemetery. King-Barr Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
