Velva Fay Colyer, 88, of Burnham, passed away at 11:48 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2024, at her home.
Born Feb. 9, 1936, in McVeytown, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Emma (Freed) Mahoney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Colyer I, whom she married Feb. 18, 1954, on Sept. 17, 2021, two brothers, and a sister.
Velva is survived by: five children, Robert E. Colyer II and wife, Susan, of M.O., Bruce A. Colyer and wife, Mary, of Sunbury, Velva Tassa, of Lewistown, Raymond C. Colyer, of Lewistown, and Rosanna Briggs and husband, Dennis, of Burnham; 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Mary Lou Kitting and companion, Howard, of Lewistown, and Sarah Woodling, of Beaver Springs.
She was employed as a clerk at Sheetz for over 20 years until retiring at age 82.
Velva was a member of the Nittany Antique Machinery Association and Lewistown Moose for many years. She also worked tirelessly at the Decatur Fire Company Cook House to support community fund raisers and special events.
A viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown, followed by the funeral service at Noon, with Pastor Bob Landis officiating.
Interment will take place at Lind Memorial Cemetery, Green Ave., Lewistown.
