Samuel G. Booher, 90, of Lewistown, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024, at Greenwood Village.
Born on Aug. 25, 1933, in McVeytown, he was the son of the late David and Esther Mae (Hammond) Booher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (Deavor) Booher; and his companion of 10 years, Evelyn House, passed away Oct. 7, 2023.
He is survived by; a daughter, Deborah A. Long and companion, Raul Correa, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Sam Long and wife, Jen, of N.C.; Jenn Fisher and husband, Daniel, of Lewistown, Josh Long and wife, Shelley, of Ky., Wade Lear Sr., of Lewistown; great-grandchildren, Autumn Long, Bobby Long, Janika Wise and husband, Justin, Krisztian Long, Damien Long, Salem Long, Samantha Long, Nathaniel Long, Katie Beth Long, Wade Lear Jr., Amelia Lear; and two great-great-grandchildren, Justin and Gabriel Wise; sisters-in-law, Janice Oldt and Sara Speech; brothers-in-law, Leon and Kenneth Deaver; many nieces and nephews.
Sam was a member of Spring Run Church of the Brethren. In his younger years, he was a member of McVeytown Fire House.
He was a high school graduate of McVeytown Oliver High School.
Earlier in life, he worked as a milkman, at McVeytown sand plant, and at Sanyo in Milroy for 19 years.
He loved being with his family. He enjoyed refurbishing furniture, reading, and crossword puzzles.
A viewing will be held fom 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2024, at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Hill officiating.
