James A. Wagner, 83, of Lewistown, went to Heaven to be with his Savior on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Geisinger, Danville. Born on Nov. 29, 1940, in Lewistown, Jim was the son of the late Albert W. Wagner and Alma G. (Boreman) Lauver. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Gary L. Wagner and Charles F. Wagner.
Jim is survived by his wife, Patsy A. (Knepp) Wagner. They celebrated their 64 wedding anniversary on June 11, 2024. They were always seen together and very much in love.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by two children, James A. Wagner Jr. and wife, Christina of Waynesboro, Pa., and Lisa K. Stroup and husband, Patrick of Belleville. He had five grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, Jillian, Andrew, and Alayna; three great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Nora, and Hallie; two sisters, Linda K. Souders and husband, Roland, and Connie E. Wilt; sister-in-law, Sandra K. Wagner.
Jim was a member of Calvary Bible Church. He served as an usher and deacon and attended the Bereans Sunday School Class. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jim served in the U.S. Army in the 25 Infantry Division, Tropic Lightning, at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. Earlier in life, he was a softball umpire and enjoyed bowling. He retired from Standard Steel in Burnham as a ring mill operator. In later years, Jim and Patsy loved socializing with people at many restaurants in Lewistown.
A visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, July 15 at Calvary Bible Church, 100 Calvary Lane, Lewistown, PA. The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bob Marsh and Pastor Mike Wagner officiating. King-Barr Funeral Home & Crematory of Lewistown will be in charge of arrangements.
