Heidi Marie (Houtz) Charles

Heidi Marie (Houtz) Charles, 42, of Milton, Florida went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 21, 2024, after a brave fight with cancer. She was surrounded by her family who are heartbroken by their loss.

Heidi, formerly from Lewistown, married her childhood sweetheart, Michael S. Charles, of Yeagertown, with whom she celebrated 21 years of marriage in June 2024. They have twin daughters, Olivia and Lillian, 16, who brought so much joy to her life. As a family they enjoyed renovating houses, traveling, and going to the beach. Most importantly though they just enjoyed spending time together.

Heidi was born on Aug. 9, 1981 in Lancaster, to Howard D. Houtz and Mary Ruth (Swartz) Houtz of Lewistown. Surviving Heidi are her parents, one sister, Bethany Brehm and husband Andy of Pittsburgh, and one brother, Timothy and wife, Brooke of Mifflintown. Heidi is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Heidi was a 1999 graduate of Indian Valley High School where she was actively involved in choir and field hockey. Heidi graduated from Lancaster Bible College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She previously worked for the Marcella Ganoe Center, Mifflin County Children and Youth, and UCP of Central PA in Mifflin County. Heidi most recently worked as an Elementary School Teacher at Sacred Heart Cathedral School in their Morningstar Program in Pensacola, Fla. Her students adored her and they meant so much to her. She fought so hard to return this upcoming school year.

Heidi was independent and strong-willed with a witty personality from the time she was young. Even more well known though was her soft and tender heart. She had such an infectious personality and always had a smile on her face even when she was faced her own trials. She left such an impact on everyone she met and will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Bible Church, located at 100 Calvary Lane Lewistown, PA on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-noon with the memorial service to follow. A meal will be provided for immediate family following the service. Burial will be private and held on a later date.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to King-Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.

Memorial contributions can be made to Sacred Heart Cathedral School, Morning Star Program, located at 1603 North 12th Avenue Pensacola, FL 32503.
