Alice E. Long, 88, of Valley View Haven Nursing Home, formerly of 11 Osage Drive, Belleville, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Valley View.
She was born on Oct. 11, 1935, to the late Harry W. and Margaret S. (Scott) Stuart. In 1953, she married Harry O. Long, who preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 2004. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret "Muff" Peachey in 2000, two grandsons, Nicholas Adam Long and William Alexander Long, and sisters, Katherine Hay and Margaret Sieczkowski.
Surviving are children: E. Linn Irvin and husband, Eugene, of Belleville, William S. Long and wife, Katherine, of Lexington, NE, David A. Long, and wife, Carmella "Cam" of Belleville; son-in-law: Dwight Peachey of Port Royal; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother Albert E. "Bud" Stuart and wife, Sandra, of Chicago, IL.
She was a member of the West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church in Belleville.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at the West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, 3820 W. Main St., Belleville, at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2024, with the Rev. Ela J. Robertson officiating. Family will receive friends starting at 2 p.m. prior to the service. The burial will be held following the service at the Machpelah Cemetery in Belleville.
