Robert D. "Bob'' Gill, 86, of Mifflintown, passed away, after a short illness, at 8:28 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at William Penn Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lewistown.
Bob was born in Mexico, Pa. Walker Township on Nov. 23, 1937, and was the son of the late William Cloyd and Doris Hazel (Thompson) Gill.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Eddi Kay (Fogleman) Gill; daughters, Kit and Husband, Roger Parks and Rachel and husband, Jeff Dowling. As well as a brother-in-law, Ronald Fogleman, and grandchildren, Judd and wife, Michelle Parks, Shade Parks, and Laney Dowling, great-grandchildren Sawyer and Lillian Parks. He was also survived by his best companion, Buddy his dog. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Bossinger.
He graduated from Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown in 1956. Bob was a proud member of the Pennsylvania National Guard for nearly 22 years, having retired as a Sergeant. He worked for 38 years for the Department of Revenue for the Commonwealth of PA as an Administrative Officer.
Mr. Gill was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Mifflintown where he was an elder, having served on both the trustee's and session of the church. He was also a member of Kiwanis of Mifflintown and the NWTF. In earlier years he was an EMT for the Mifflin ambulance and JETS (Juniata Emergency Team). Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin collecting and making stained glass. He liked to watch NASCAR and dirt track racing. Bob did word puzzles every day. He loved to travel as well as camping and did so for 42 years.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown with Pastor Nancy McClure officiating. Interment will follow at New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Gill's memory to the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, 208 Lemon St., Mifflintown, PA 17059.
