Robert A. "Bob" Rahauser, 79, of Centre Hall, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 23, 2024, while being surrounded by his loved ones. Born on May 21, 1945, in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Arthur M. and Dorothy J. (McDevitt) Rahauser. On December 19, 1970, he married the love of his life, Alicia C. Heimbaugh, who survives at home.
Bob graduated from Lewistown Granville High School in 1963. He had attended various tech schools afterwards, both in the service and during his civilian years. In 1965, he enlisted with the United States Navy. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal during his service. He earned the rank of Electronics Technician (Radar) Petty Officer 2nd Class prior to his honorable discharge in 1969. The majority of Bob's career as an electronic technician was at Gregg Electronics, later known as Com Pro's, retiring in 2009, after more than 30 years of service. He was a hard worker and he enjoyed what he did. He was so dedicated that he set up, installed, and maintained the 911 communications system for 7 different counties.
Bob attended the Milroy Pilgrim Holiness Church with his wife. He was a lifetime member of the Centre Hall Voluneer Fire Company. He was a member of the Spring Mills Fish and Game Commission, the NRA, the CCHL (Citizens Concerns for Human Life) and the Centre Hall Planning Commission. He volunteered as a driver for Veteran's Administration, transporting veterans to the VA hospital and doctors appointments. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing, and going to camp. Although he loved the outdoors, nothing compared to the love he had for his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. He was affectionately known as Urkel by his fishing buddies and BR549 by his friends at the firehouse. He was sarcastic and you could always count on him for a great 1 liner, he was caring and soft hearted, and he showed his loved to those that knew him most.
Along with his wife, Bob is survived by his daughters, Andrea D. Stroup and her husband, Mark, of Millheim and Leslie A. Rahauser and her husband, Curt Stroup, of Enola; seven grandchildren, Tanner (Gretchen), Madison (Mike), Amanda (Ted), Ethan, Mikayla, Logan (Grace) and Zavier; five great grandchildren, Weston, Allison, Lindsey, Peyton, and Eliza; nephews, Bryan Kibe, Randy Kibe, and Todd Hoar; numerous other nieces, nephews, and family on his wife's side; and many friends that he held dear to his heart.
Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Stouffer.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 10-11 a.m. at the Barbara Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Centre Hall. A funeral service will immediately follow on Thursday at 11am with Rev. Nathan Walter officiating. A graveside service will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Milroy with military honors accorded.
