Ralph E. Bitner, 84, formerly of Reedsville, passed away at Greenwood Village, Lewistown, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
He was born on Dec. 5, 1939 in Tusseyville, Pa. to the late Edward L. and Dorothy Ruth (Harmon) Bitner. On Oct. 6, 1962 he married Barbara Aloma (Thomas) Bitner, who preceded him in death on May 13, 2012. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce Edward Bitner and Brian Eugene Bitner and a sister Glenda Lee Fultz.
He is survived by a sister Edwina L. Sims of Centre Hall; two daughters-in-law: Evelyn Bitner and Michelle Bitner; grandsons: Jared Bitner and wife, Jinny and their daughter, Viola Angela Bitner, Bryant, Cody and Christopher Bitner; nieces and nephews: Jeffrey Sims, Cindi Keeler, Raymond Sims, and Kathryn Knepp.
He served in the U.S. Air Force on the strike team stationed in Okinawa from 1957 to 1961. He then worked as an electrician at Standard Steel in Burnham, with over 37 years of service.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a gun collector and was a member of the Moose.
He attended St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Lewistown.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Henderson-Bohn Funeral Home, 55 N. Main Street, Reedsville. There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery with Military Honors.
