R. Donald Love, 90, of East Waterford, passed away at 9:06 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at his residence.
Born on Dec. 18, 1933, in East Waterford, Juniata County, he is the son of the late Robert F. and Helen (Henry) Love.
On Feb. 12, 1955, he married his surviving wife, Dolores (Reynolds) Love, with whom he was blessed to share over 69 years of marriage before his passing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Denise L. Knepp and her husband, Brent of Thompsontown and Dennis Love of East Waterford; five grandchildren, Maggie Maben and her husband, Lucas, Emily Miller and her husband, David, Mark Love and his wife, Andrea, Darin Love, and Evin Love and his fiancÈ, Mary Manbeck; four great grandchildren, Bethany Maben, Olvia Maben, Jonas Miller, Eliza Miller and one on the way; one sister, Mary Grace Miller of Dry Run; and a former son in law, Kyle Hubbert.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Diane L. Hubbert on Feb. 2, 1991; one grandson, Kenneth Hubbert; and one sister, Eleanor Peterson.
Donald was a graduate of Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown.
For all of his life, Mr. Love proudly farmed on his farm in East Waterford and in earlier life, checked scales for the Juniata County Weights and Measurements.
His memberships include the East Waterford Presbyterian Church, the Union Lodge No. 324 F&AM in Mifflintown, the Tuscarora Grange No. 774 in East Waterford, the East Waterford Fire Company and Ambulance, served as a lifetime member of Heritage Days, Farm Bureau, 4-H Advisory Board, and served on the Juniata County School District Board of Directors for many years.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024, from the East Waterford Presbyterian Church with Pastor Brad Zembower officiating. Interment will be private at the East Waterford Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 1:30 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. when there will be Masonic funeral rites conducted.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Love's memory can be made to the East Waterford Presbyterian Church, 54 Church St., East Waterford, PA 17021 or to Family Hospice, 20 Sheraton Drive, Altoona, PA 16601.
