Evelyn Kline Clare, 103, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from her home in Murrells Inlet South Carolina, with her loving family by her side. She was born on Aug. 18, 1920, in McClure to the late Albert Harry Kline & Amanda Elizabeth Shive Kline.
Along with her parents, Evelyn is reunited in passing with her loving husband, Cloyd F. Clare; as well as her siblings, Maxine P. Goss, David C. Kline & LeRoy E. Kline.
Evelyn was a graduate and Valedictorian of McClure High School Class of 1938. Following graduation Evelyn joined the work force. While in Lewistown, she worked for Arrow Shirt Co. for many years as a quality control clerk until her retirement in 1985. She relocated to Reading and went on work for Vanity Fair Factory Outlet in 1988 where she worked diligently until her retirement. During her time with V.F., she proudly earned Employee of the Year in 2000. Evelyn and her family relocated to Murrells Inlet where she was a faithful member of Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church in Garden City as well as a Life Member of Lewistown Chapter 283, Order of Eastern Star. In her free time, Evelyn loved to read and crochet and above all else, loved her family with her whole heart. Evelyn will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her good sense of humor, bright smile and love she had for her family.
Left to cherish Evelyn's memory are her adoring children, Sue (Bill) Deacon of Murrells Inlet & Joseph (Fay) Clare of Orange Park, Fla.; grandchildren, Stacey Riegel (Brett), Stephanie Cribb (Curtis) & David Clare (Mary); great-grandchildren, Brynn Tran, Jacob Riegel (Taylor), Grayson Cribb, Andrew Cribb, Alexa Cribb, Tyler Clare and Abigail Clare; step-great-grandchildren, Evelyn-Li Tran & Sutton Riegel; as well as several nieces and nephews; a large loving extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Evelyn's life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church, 2637 US-17 Bus, Murrells Inlet, SC. 29576. The family will gather to greet friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
At the request of the family, please consider memorial contributions in lieu of flowers. Donations in Evelyn's name may be made to the Music Fund at Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church, at the address listed above.
