Estel Eugene North was born to Frances T. and Bonnie (Young) North on March 21, 1947, in Fredonia, Kan. He was the 5th child in a family of 10 children. He also had six step-siblings.
In recent years, his health began to fail and while visiting at Arcadia, Florida, he again had another flare-up of his challenged lungs as well as other health issues and was hospitalized. He peacefully passed away on May 13, 2024, reaching the age of 77 years.
He completed his formal education and graduated from Altoona Midway School in Altoona, Kan. He was a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, in McVeytown.
Leaving to mourn his passing are his wife of 58 years, Ann. Three daughters and three sons. Juanita and Delton Thiessen Oliver, B.C. Canada, Sam and Annette North, of McVeytown, Phyllis and Rodney Schultz, of Neodesha, Kan., Ruth and Jerry Koehn, of McVeytown, Clinton and Shanna North, of Neodesha, Kan. and Raymond and Jackie North, pf Muskogee, Okla. One brother Kenneth and Editha North, of Lincoln Neb. and a brother-in-law Frank Farmer, of Warsaw, Mo. Ann's family: Linda Wohlgemuth, Crooked Creek, Alberta, Canada, Carolyn and Arnold Blosser, of Versailles, Mo., Paul and Gail Hughes, of Hazelton, Ind., Edwin and Karen Hughes, and Daniel and Cynthia Hughes, of Versailles, Mo., step-sister-in-law LaVonne and Gilbert Toews, Whitemouth, of Manitoba, Canada, step-brothers-in-law, Galen and Julie Becker, Lancaster County, Pa., and Wayne Becker, Millington, Tenn., 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Viewings will be held at Living Springs Mennonite Church, 565 Ridge Rd, McVeytown, on Saturday, May 18 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral will be at the same address on Sunday, at 10:30 a.m.
